...this Candyman's in town: 3/24/88

http://www.archive.org/details/gd88-03-24.aud.wood.9540.sbeok.shnf

I was at this show, remembered it fondly, and only recently went back to listen. Great show (especially for a weak year of '88) and the best damn CANDYMAN I think i've ever heard.

This AUD source is also damn good, so don't be put off by it.

Give a listen and see if you agree, at least about this gem of a Candyman!

My personal fav. from 88 was9-22-88 M.S.G.
Jerry is spacin, during the solo.
Also love the 9-18-87 M.S.G. Candyman and, The 5-9-81 Nassau Colliseum. Those are the only 3 shows I recall them playing
CM that i attended. My all time fav. tho....Don't think I heard them all yet Will have to get back to you!

If it plays out just like the script I've written for it plays out, when I get back to Memphis will be a week from tomorrow.

an '88 candymam sound a little phishy too me, like imitation crab meat, cheap and commercial.....better stay in atlanta, US kids like trixtoo, not sweet Georgia brown.

Hey Bopper!

That comeback show 12/15/86 Candyman is fantastic, esp. the crowd reaction on "won't you tell everybody you meet that the candyman's in town"...sadly, though, that AUD source is lousy--it's tough to listen to the music itself and even the crowd isn't 'mic'd well enough...then I tried the SBD version and was robbed of the crowd reaction! Too bad. While that version (IMO) doesn't meet the standard of this 3/24/88 version I recommended, it IS a good one...and the crowd reacting to that line on jerry's first show back from coma-land is epic.

Thanks for the other recommendation and ditto the others who pointed me to those other "candymen"...an underrated Jerry tune, I think.
